Welcome to tas-tech.net. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of this website and any of the self-hosted services operated by Tas-Tech (including file storage/backup and remote-access/management tools such as Nextcloud and MeshCentral), referred to collectively below as "the Services." By accessing or using any of the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them.
This covers tas-tech.net itself and any self-hosted application or tool operated by Tas-Tech that links to this page. Where a specific service has its own separate terms, those take precedence for that service; these Terms fill any gaps.
Some Services require an account or credentials. Access may be granted informally — a personal arrangement, a favour to a friend, a client engagement — rather than through a formal sign-up process. Regardless of how access was granted, these Terms apply. You're responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for anything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think access has been compromised.
Don't use the Services to:
We can suspend or terminate access, without notice, for any conduct we reasonably consider abusive or harmful — see Termination below.
Where a Service includes backup or storage functionality, it's provided as a convenience and on a best-effort basis. It is not a guarantee against data loss. You are responsible for keeping your own independent copies of anything you can't afford to lose. We take reasonable care with your data but make no promise that backups are complete, current, or recoverable in every circumstance.
The Services are run on a small, self-hosted basis, without a formal SLA, uptime guarantee, or dedicated support desk. They're provided "as is" and "as available." We don't warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available at any particular time, and we may take them offline for maintenance, security response, or any other reason without notice.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tas-Tech is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Services — including loss of data, loss of business, or service downtime. Where liability can't be excluded, it's limited to re-supplying the affected Service. This is a small, largely non-commercial operation; treat anything you store here accordingly.
The Services run on third-party and open-source software (e.g. Nextcloud, MeshCentral) that Tas-Tech didn't write and doesn't control. Use of those tools is also subject to their own licences and terms. See the Disclaimer & License page for how open-source code shared directly by Tas-Tech is licensed.
We may suspend or terminate your access to any Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason — including a breach of these Terms, suspected abuse, or simply because a Service is being retired. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (liability limits, disclaimers) continue to apply.
These Terms may be updated from time to time; the current version always applies. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Tasmania, Australia.
